Join the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center for an in-person artist talk about The Small Black Museum Residency Exhibition on Saturday, October 2 from 1 – 3 p.m. The artist talk will be hosted in the atrium of the Carver Museum. Limited seating available.

Carver Museum names first cohort of artists to its residency project

The George Washington Carver Museum has named the first cohort of artists for its Small Black Museum Residency Project.

Adrian Armstrong, Temitope Olujobi and Hypatia Sorunke will engage in the three-month residency program during which they will develop new artwork and engage in professional development initiatives.

At the Carver Museum, the Small Black Museum Residency project breaks new ground

When the museum closed to the pandemic, it provided the opportunity to launch a new residency program for Black artists…. Sorunke’s media installation, “El Estado del Mundo,” offers a series of photographic portraits and several short videos … and a call for more space for grief, healing, remembrance, celebration.
