Sorunke (they/them) is a multimedia artist based in Texas and New York.
They combine their passions of storytelling and visual art
through writing, photography, and filmmaking.
Their work has been exhibited at galleries–the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, Museum of Human Achievement, MASS Gallery–film festivals–Reeling: The Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival, Reel Affirmations: Washington DC’s International Film Festival, The Women’s Film Festival, and Newark LGBTQ Film Festival–and with grassroots organizations–Brooklyn Poets, the Black Zine Fair, and more.
They are currently researching 1970s-1990’s Harlem as an Independent Research Fellow at Barnard College at Columbia University and taking classes at the The International Center of Photography and the School for Poetic Computation.
Graduating from the University of Texas at Austin,
they received a Plan II Honors and African and African Diaspora Studies dual degree (m. Gov),
